Don't look now, but there's a monster on your butt OR Do these pants make my butt look monstrous?

I found these cute knitted pants on Printerest.

Aren't they cute!! But I'm not much of a knitter. I would still be knitting when my babies were getting ready to go to college. So I decided to try a variation. This is what I came up with.

I purchased the zebra pants at Hobby Lobby and came up with my own design. I wanted something a little more girlie too. I got out the pencil and paper and came up with a new "face".

I really only needed half a face as I folded the fleece to make sure the face ended up symmetrical

I cut the pieces out of fleece.

I started with the mouth. I sewed the teeth to the black, then sewed the black to the red lips.

The eyes started with applying the purple lids to the white circle and then the black dots as well.

I struggled with the eyelashes. I tried using trim, which didn't work...AT ALL. But, I got a new sewing machine out of the fiasco! I ended up using eyelash yarn. Why didn't I think of that in the first place?

I then placed the pieces on the hinny of the pants and carefully sewed them on. Don't look too close, I've never done applique before so I could use a little more practice before anyone gets closer to my work. I used the zig-zag stitch to sew everything.

I don't think my babies will care though.

Do you like??
